What is the Pediatric Care Alliance?

The Pediatric Care Alliance is a partnership between Connecticut Children’s and Hartford HealthCare. Our two health systems have a history of collaboration, from newborn care to care for chronic illnesses and adult congenital heart disease. Now we’re taking it further, helping families navigate the healthcare journey every step of the way.

We want every child and family in the region to have access to expert care – for a lifetime.

What’s so unique about the Pediatric Care Alliance?

The best of both worlds. From birth and through adulthood, it should be easy for every member of your family to get the care they need, even as those needs change and evolve over time. By combining our expertise and reach throughout nearly 400 locations, we’re making care more accessible to everyone.

It takes a village. Whatever care or support your family needs, there are experts at Connecticut Children’s and Hartford HealthCare who can provide it. This includes an array of health, social and emotional support programs across both health systems.

Advanced care for high-risk pregnancies. Some mothers and babies need advanced care in utero and soon after delivery. Through our partnership, they have access to specialized testing, treatments and teams at the Fetal Care Center at Connecticut Children’s — the only center of its kind in New England.

Bringing nationally-ranked newborn care closer to home. Connecticut Children's flagship neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Hartford Hospital is already a hub for newborn care throughout the region: We’re named one of the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report, staffed by a nationally-ranked nursing team, and lead important research. The Pediatric Care Alliance will bring NICUs staffed by Connecticut Children's specialists to more Hartford HealthCare locations – so communities throughout the region have access to this same high-quality neonatology care.

What does the Pediatric Care Alliance mean for me and my family?

Our teams are here for you, plain and simple. Connecticut Children's and Hartford HealthCare will continue to listen and respond to your needs, connecting your family with the right care, wherever that may be across our health systems.

Exceptional NICU experience. From specialists who educate families on every aspect of their baby’s care to technology that lets caregivers monitor their newborn from anywhere, our flagship NICU provides family support and education that begins before birth and continues after babies go home.

When your child needs care, the Pediatric Care Alliance makes sure they’re in the right hands. Whether it’s a newborn who needs to spend time in the NICU; a child who needs a pediatric specialist; or an older teen who is transitioning to adult care, Connecticut Children's and Hartford HealthCare will work together for a safe, well-planned transition of care.
