At the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute, we believe your address shouldn’t determine the quality of care you can access quickly and easily.
Everyone deserves outstanding care close to home. Our statewide, coordinated network ensures that comprehensive cancer care is nearby – from diagnosis and treatment to specialized programs, clinical trials and survivorship help.
The Cancer Institute, headed by a visionary leadership team, offers the same high-quality care you’d get at an academic health system – but delivered in convenient community settings. Advanced treatments and services are available in offices and centers across our system – all offered by fellowship-trained experts in various types of cancer. World-class care is a short drive away.
Ten years ago, Hartford HealthCare became the charter member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK)’s Cancer Alliance, proving patients unprecedented access to the world’s most advance care, including clinical trials, evidenced-based treatments and some of the best minds in the field. Over time, technology, treatments and research has advanced, and so has HHC’s relationship with MSK. Today, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a Hartford HealthCare flagship care facility, becomes the first in the nation as a Care Partner of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK Care Partner).
Healthcare organizations become an MSK Care Partner based on MSK's review and adoption of MSK's Standards of Care. Being an MSK Care Partner brings more tailored knowledge-sharing to partner healthcare organizations, including focused education and training and opportunities for collaboration, helping to expand integrated, subspecialized, high-quality cancer care to more patients.
Through knowledge-sharing, access to clinical trials, educational opportunities and collaboration with the world’s preeminent cancer specialists, St. Vincent’s Medical Center will be adopting the MSK Standards of Care™ in its oncology practice. Hartford HealthCare physicians at St. Vincent’s Medical Center will have opportunities to consult with MSK’s highly specialized experts on the optimal treatment plan for their patients. They also will observe MSK physicians performing new techniques, better equipping them to provide the highest standard of care in their own practices. Some St. Vincent’s Medical Center physicians will be able to participate in MSK continuing education programs, grand rounds, tumor boards, symposia, and observership opportunities.
The Cancer Institute offers the same personalized, coordinated care you’d get at an academic health system but delivered in convenient community settings.
Here, you’ll find subspecialty-trained teams of experts who work together, and with you, on your specific care plan. They use the latest technology and specialized approaches with the goal of eliminating the cancer and restoring the patient’s quality of life.
We also offer dedicated navigators who advocate on your behalf throughout your cancer journey. They help you understand your disease, guide you through appointments, lend emotional support and offer healthy options to practice at home.
The Cancer Institute also plays a major role in Hartford HealthCare’s system-wide innovation and research efforts aimed at constantly evaluating what can be done better to help patients thrive and to create healthier communities.
It’s no surprise one-third of cancer patients in Connecticut choose Hartford HealthCare for their care. We treat about 6,000 of your neighbors and friends as new cancer patients each year, and we’d be honored to ensure you get the care you need and deserve, too.
