American Heart Association Programs

Our Training Center is a fully accredited American Heart Association Training Center and offers all of the American Heart courses listed below. In addition, our training staff is willing to provide customized sessions to meet your needs.

Course cost includes all necessary books and equipment.

BLS Heartcode registration — The online AHA BLS Course (NOTE: This includes both the online and the skills.)

BLS Heartcode Skills only registration (NOTE: You must already have the Heartcode online completed.)

Basic Life Support

The BLS Course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including doing ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). It’s intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

Healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician’s assistants, residents or fellow, or medical or nursing students in training, healthcare aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, firefighters and other allied health personnel.

BLS/CPR Instructor Course 

Course Cost: $100.00

ACLS & PALS Update

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

This is for providers that hold a current ACLS & PALS card and need recertification in both

This class is held on the same day back-to-back

Course Cost: $175 each - Includes Books and completion card

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Provider Course (16 hour initial)

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

This is for providers who don't currently hold a valid ACLS card.

Update Course (8-hour Recertification)

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

This is for providers that hold a current ACLS and need recertification.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)-Update course

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

Healthcare providers who provide advanced level care to pediatric patients. Topics include cardiac care, respiratory emergencies and shock.

Course Cost: $185.00

Heartsaver® CPR/AED 

The Heartsaver® CPR Course is a modular course that teaches lay rescuers how to recognize life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. 

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

All lay rescuers, such as employees in the workplace, day care employees, babysitters, airline personnel, security guards, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other lay rescuers, and those who may have a need to respond to an emergency.

COURSE COST: $75.00
COURSE LENGTH: 3 hours; 2 hours without Infant CPR

Heartsaver® First Aid

The Heartsaver® First Aid Course provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies and Injury Emergencies. Optional topics include CPR and AED, and Environmental Emergencies. 

INTENDED AUDIENCE:

Persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community as well as those who want to learn first aid, CPR and AED skills.  Some rescuers are required to take this course as part of their employer’s efforts to comply with OSHA regulations, e.g., corporate employees, security guards, airline personnel and lifeguards.   

COURSE COST - BASIC FIRST AID: $70.00
COURSE COST W/CPR AED: $100.00
COURSE LENGTH: 7.5 hours; 6.5 hours without Infant CPR; 3.5 hours with First Aid only.

EMT NCCP Programs & CME listing

This is a 20-hour State of Connecticut approved NCCP recertification course. This also satisfies the 20hr NREMT requirement. This DOES include an AHA CPR recertification.

You MUST also accrue an additional 20 hours of continuing medical education (CME's) to complete your recertification.  

You MUST also submit a State of Connecticut OEMS recertification application via their website. You will receive an email link prior to your expiration.  

 An AHA Healthcare Provider CPR refresher class in INCLUDED in the NCCP 20hr class.

EMS CME's: We offer a wide variety of CME opportunities and are continually adding new ones.

Become an Emergency Medical Technician

Hunter’s Ambulance sponsors an EMT training course taught by experienced EMS Instructors to become an Emergency Medical Technician.  This program is designed to prepare individuals to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification examination. This is the test used by the State of Connecticut to certify EMT's.

Coursework emphasizes emergency skills, such as managing respiratory, trauma, and cardiac emergencies, and patient assessment. Coursework also includes clinical time which gets you out of the classroom and into an ambulance working hands on with an EMT. This valuable time working with an EMT and responding to calls on our busy ambulances provide you with experience you can't get elsewhere!  The program provides instruction and practice in dealing with bleeding, fractures, airway obstruction, cardiac arrest, and emergency childbirth. Students learn how to use and maintain common emergency equipment, such as backboards, suction devices, splints, oxygen delivery systems, and stretchers.

The course is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and 2 Saturday labs per month from 9 am - 4:30 pm. There will also be 2 clinical rotations per month to gain hands on training in an ambulance with experienced providers.

Class size is limited to 30 students. Total Course Fees: $1400.00.  This covers tuition, textbooks, final NREMT psychomotor and written exam testing fees, AHA CPR, uniform shirt and Blood pressure cuff with stethoscope.

Summer 2024 Class begins June 19th, 2024

Paramedic Recertification Programs

This is a state of Connecticut approved 30hr NCCP course is a mix of on-line course work and classroom lectures. It can be used for CME or NREMT recertification. This class is 22hrs of online content and 8hrs of classroom lecture. Topics include- anatomy and physiology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, trauma, medical emergencies, EMS Operations, OB/GYN & neonatology, pediatrics, pharmacology and special populations.  

You will receive an online code to complete the assigned topics. All online content must be completed prior to the last day of class in order to successfully complete the course. In addition, you will receive access to the online content to obtain additional CAPCE accredited F3 content.

Course Cost: $300- includes online access.

All classes are from 8am–4pm plus online content.
