Our Team

The Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute’s team of experts, led by Senior Vice President of Operations Wendy Elberth, Dr. Mark Alberts, a neurologist, Dr. Khalid Abbed, a neurosurgeon, are committed to providing the highest level of care to our patients.

Through our comprehensive care model, experts across the state in multiple specialties develop a care plan unique to your needs. We then guide you through your patient journey.

Your care is carefully reviewed and coordinated through meetings that can include neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, physical therapists, nurse navigators, and EEG techs.

For orthopedic, behavioral health, cardiovascular, rehabilitation, or other related concerns, our providers have access to a vast network of experts at condition-specific Hartford HealthCare institutes.

We treat our patients with compassion and empathy, understanding that neurologic conditions can be complex and difficult to navigate. We’re always by your side, from scheduling your initial appointment to recovery and beyond.
