Jeffrey Cohen M.D., FACS FASCRS CPE is the Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Operating Officer for Hartford HealthCare.

Dr. Cohen has been a part of the Hartford Healthcare environment for over 30 years, forging relationships throughout the Hartford HealthCare system as it has evolved in to the foremost integrated health care delivery system in Connecticut. Most recently, Dr. Cohen held the position of Chief Physician Officer of Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, leading a 800+ clinician multispecialty group practice, as well as the System Vice President for Physician Network Development. Having created the Development, Acquisitions & Recruitment Team (DART), he coordinated all provider recruitment and practice acquisitions, as well as service line development, throughout the health care system. In addition, Dr. Cohen focused on developing new markets for expansion of Hartford Healthcare’s footprint, while insuring system wide clinical integration and operational efficiency.

Prior to joining Hartford Healthcare in 2011, Dr. Cohen was the President of Connecticut Surgical Group, one of the largest private practice multispecialty surgical groups in the Northeast, while collaborating in the development of a multihospital tertiary care colorectal surgical practice.

Dr. Cohen received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and medical degree and general surgery training at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Lahey Clinic, and also received an advanced leadership and management degree as a Certified Physician Executive from the American College of Physician Executives. He is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Connecticut and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Quinnipiac University. Dr. Cohen is widely published in diverse areas ranging from clinical research related to minimally invasive intestinal surgery to risk management programs, and a nationally invited speaker on topics such as practice management and clinician leadership. He has been recognized by Best Doctors in America for more than two decades.
