Rural Residency Program

Hartford HealthCare, in partnership with Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, is proud to host this rural residency program.

This unique graduate medical education program offers hands-on training in a variety of specialties, to provide the highest quality of medical care to rural and underserved communities. Residents will benefit from outstanding training in a supportive environment, preparing them for future success.

Quinnipiac University Programs

Family Medicine

The Rural Family Medicine Residency program addresses healthcare inequities in rural communities through direct patient care, community outreach, health professions education and scholarly inquiry. The program provides state-of-the-art education in an integrated, multidisciplinary environment. Residents will begin the program at St. Vincent’s Medical Center (Bridgeport, CT), and complete their final years in rural northwestern Connecticut.

Psychiatry  

The Rural Psychiatry Residency program focuses on training residents to provide compassionate, high-quality care, and is designed to build a strong foundation for rural psychiatric practice and leadership. Residents have multiple experiences in inpatient and outpatient settings, psychotherapy training, community engagement, as well as multiple elective and supervisory opportunities. The majority of training for the first two years will be in Bridgeport and Westport, Connecticut.
