Suitable clothing can be the best medicine

December 20, 2024

A patient at Plainville primary care received care of a different kind when the practice team rallied to support his search for a job.

During a recent visit, the patient shared that he was struggling to find a job because he lacked decent clothes and hadn’t had a haircut. The result was a serious blow to his self-esteem.

Led by practice manager Meagan Torres, the team organized a haircut donated by a professional barber and pooled resources to buy the man toiletries, undergarments, a hat, gloves, socks, hand warmers, sweatpants and an interview-suitable shirt. The team’s actions addressed the man’s immediate needs and helped restore his confidence and dignity. He left with a renewed sense of hope and the biggest smile.
