MidState Medical Center Nationally Recognized for Breast Healthcare

June 03, 2025

MidState Medical Center has been awarded the designation of Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC), the highest level of recognition.

This honor reflects the program’s commitment to providing the highest standard of breast healthcare across all aspects of the patient journey.

“Earning the designation as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence is a reflection of our team’s dedication to delivering the highest standards of care,” said Niamey Wilson, MD, FACS, medical director of the breast program at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute. “This recognition affirms our commitment to excellence in every aspect of breast health — from preventive screenings and diagnostic services to treatment, education and ongoing support.”

The NQMBC, developed by the National Consortium of Breast Centers, is a national benchmarking program designed to measure performance and quality in breast healthcare. Evaluation criteria include a wide range of metrics, such as timeliness of care, adherence to medical and radiation oncology guidelines, genetic testing practices, pathology reporting standards, nurse navigation, and overall quality of services provided.

MidState’s recognition as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence demonstrates not only clinical excellence, but also a deep commitment to continuous improvement and patient-centered care.
